"Weapons"
30-second ad released April 26, 2004 to run on national cable and in selected local markets.  Nine other versions of the ad, specific to selected states, will also air.

President Bush:  I’m George W. Bush and I approve this message.

Announcer: As our troops defend America in the War on Terror, they must have what it takes to win.

Yet, John Kerry has repeatedly opposed weapons vital to winning the War on Terror: Bradley Fighting Vehicles, Patriot Missiles, B-2 Stealth Bombers, F-18 Fighter Jets and more.

Kerry even voted against body armor for our troops on the front line of the War on Terror.

John Kerry’s record on national security: Troubling.

Notes and Observations: This ad reminds one of a video game as the various weapons systems are flashed up on the desert scene.  In fact in May the campaign put up an interactive video on its website.  Clicking on the Patriot Missile, for example, one learns not only that it "defends cities or troops against enemy missile attack" but that it is "proudly built in places like Arkansas and Florida."  Further Kerry proposed canceling the system in 1984 and twice voted against funding in 1990.
