Edwards for President, Inc.

"American Jobs"
30-second ad run in SC and OK starting Jan. 30, 2004.

[Music in background] John Edwards: It's easy for candidates to talk about manufacturing and jobs, but I've lived it and I haven't forgotten it.

My Dad worked in textile mills to put food on our table and clothes on our backs.

Today, the mills are gone.

And so are the jobs.

That's why I opposed NAFTA and why I'll end tax breaks for companies that send jobs overseas.

I'm John Edwards and I approve this message because no one will do more than I will to keep American jobs right here in America.

That's something you can count on.

On the screen: 1. Medium close up of Edwards, wearing suit and tie, talking to the camera.  2. Split screen -- on the left Edwards continues talking while on the right a series of four black and white images are run (inside a mill; Edwards' Mom holding young Edwards; chained gate with closed sign; man looking out window).  3. Return to full screen MCU of Edwards.  4. Medium shot of Edwards, flag in the background; add disclaimer.
