[Music in background]  John Edwards: My grandmother started out as a sharecropper.  My father worked in a mill all his life--had a high school education.

I was the first person in my family to go to college.  I mean that's the America I believe in.

I want to make college available to every young person who wants to go and, big and, is willing to work for it.

You know I worked my way through college.  It didn't hurt me a lick.

There is nothing that the people in this country aren't capable of doing, if we give them a chance.

I'm John Edwards and I approved this message.

On the screen: Close ups of Edwards talking to the camera, alternating with voiceovers.

Edwards to camera; CG identifies him as "Senator John Edwards."  Clip of Edwards with his kids.  Medium close up of Edwards to camera.  Text screen: "The Edwards Plan: A free year of college tuition for students who work" and the campaign website address.  Edwards to camera.  Closes with a clip of Edwards at some forum; an American flag is in the background.  A girl asks a question or makes a comment.  CG disclaimer.  Edwards moves toward now unseen questioner.
