[Letter sent to 25,000 targeted New Hampshire households in Nov. 2003]

Dear Friend:

Four years ago, John McCain inspired the people of New Hampshire as he spoke at his announcement on a sun-drenched September day in Nashua.

"When our government has been taken from us by the special interests, the big-dollar donors, pride is lost to shame. We have a choice. We can continue to watch as the American people grow ever more alienated from the practice and institutions of democracy. We can continue to tolerate a government that has become little more than a spectacle of selfish ambition, a government auctioned to the highest bidder.  Or, we can take a stand."

We were a few of the many who listened to Senator McCain and made up our minds to take a stand against politics as usual.  We became New Hampshire Town Chairs for John McCain for President.

Now, four years later, we have found another leader who has earned our respect and admiration for his commitment to bring integrity, independence, and honesty to the White House.  That candidate is Joe Lieberman.

Recent newspaper headlines are filled with stories about Howard Dean and John Kerry, who have turned their backs on the principles that John McCain fought for to reform the political process, by refusing to adhere to basic spending limitations.

Joe Lieberman joined with Senator McCain and led the fight for campaign reform.  He decided to abide by the public financing guidelines and is sticking to his word.  Howard Dean made a similar pledge but now he has broken his word just to serve his political interest.

But it's more than just campaign finance reform, John McCain has repeatedly singled out Senator Lieberman to praise him for his commitment to our troops in Iraq, to make sure they have the resources they need to carry out their mission and guarantee their safety.

And just last month John McCain and Joe Lieberman received near universal acclaim for teaming up to lead the fight to protect our environment by offering innovative and practical solutions to control global warming.

Both John McCain and Joe Lieberman offer the best of American leadership - integrity, independence and honesty.  We fell short of our goal to elect an independent-minded President in 2000.  With Joe Lieberman, we have an opportunity to return integrity to the White House.  But we need your help.

When John McCain ended his campaign in 2000 he asked us to do one thing:

"Promise me that you will never give up, that you will continue your service in the worthy cause of revitalizing our democracy.  Our crusade will never accomplish all its goals if your voices fall silent in our national debate."

We have taken the Senator up on his offer and proudly support Joe Lieberman.  Please, join us in bringing integrity back to Washington.  Join us in supporting Joe Lieberman for President.

Sincerely,
