Virginia Republican Party
Chairman Kate Obenshain Griffin
Elected in Sept. 2003.  Served as Gov. George Allen's education and health policy advisor.  Worked on Allen's 1993 gubernatorial campaign.  Graduate of the University of Virginia.  Virginia native.  Resident of Winchester and mother of four young children.  Daughter of Richard Obenshain, who served as chairman of the party starting in 1972 and was the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in 1978 but died in a plane crash.
 
 
Executive Director Shane R. Ostrowski
(announced Jan. 7, 2004)  Prior to coming to Virginia Ostrowski served for three years as political director of the Ohio Republican Party starting in late 2000.  He served as regional field director for the Ohio Republican Party from 1997-2000; and started at the party in 1996 as assistant to the political director.  Also in 1996 he was one of five national co-directors of the youth campaign for Dole/Kemp.  From Bowling Green.

Communications Director Shawn M. Smith
(announced Jan. 6, 2003)  Smith came to the Republican Party of Virginia from his position as legislative consultant in the law firm of Reed Smith.  He served Gov. James Gilmore as liaison for House relations and was deputy director of the Governor's Blue Ribbon Commission on Higher Education.  Smith graduated from the College of William and Mary with a B.A. in government and sociology.
