Campaign for America's Future's "Take Back America" Conference
June 5, 2003.  Rep. Kucinich drew a very enthusiastic response from the audience.
Rep. Kucinich, surrounded by several campaign staffers and conference attendees, prepares to give his speech.  United Steelworkers of America international president Leo Gerard introduced Kucinich.

Democracy in Action questioned couple of Kucinich supporters about his prospects:

Fred from Maine (declined to give last name):  "Kucinich has won overwhelmingly in a major urban city with the backing of more than 70 percent of the vote...  He represents one of the most diverse populations of any of the candidates running.  Some of the candidates such as the gentlemen from New England represent a very white...population and others don't have the strong stance on issues.  So I'm wondering who is indeed questioning whether this man can win.  Is that the conservative wing of the Republican party, and who are the journalists that are continually asking that question and what is the motive behind the question?"

Patrick Abegg from Boston, MA:  "The status quo means that Bush gets re-elected much like Nixon got re-elected in 1972 because the Democrats never really changed anything.  What's got to happen this time is we've got to start talking to peple about the issues where Bush is vulnerable.  And I think that's actually what makes Kucinich a viable option...

"I think Dennis has that chance of really reaching out and saying universal national health care is a priority and the other candidates are saying well maybe.  Here's somebody who's standing up and saying this is what we need, and I think that's an issue that's really going to hit home with middle class voters because everybody's scared about their health care.  I think certainly with the anti-war movement, which has shown an incredible ability to bring people out in the streets, Dennis is the leader in Congress in fighting against Bush's war..."
