I went live with the site on December 19, 2002. VA4Dean.com as best I can tell was one of the very first unofficial websites (especially geographically based) online.

I have always been politically passionate, and on occasion active.  Though the last time I was active was in 1992-1993 during the first Clinton Campaign. I found Gov. Dean in Early November and I was very impressed in what I saw in him.  He was candid and upfront on his vision for america, and it was a mirror of my opinons.  Then in December I was invited to meet him at a house party in DC.  Once I saw his energy and was able to read him better, call it a gut instinct, I knew he was the man to beat Bush.

As for websites I have been designing and doing websites now for over 3 years.  So I have always believed in the power of the net.  I see it every day with my car club and how with the internet it grew quite large and very interconnected.  I knew one of the ways I could help was to do the website and whipping up one for him to put a Virginia face on the campaign was a easy enough task and one I was glad to do.

What has happened since is Gov. Deans campaign has proven that with the power of the net the electorate can make more complete and informed
decisions.  Netizens don't have to rely on sound bites, or short speeches, we can find all the information from the candidates website and news outlets and really dig into the candidate and his positions and history.  This is proven in the fact that all the candidates have websites, all have been trying to use Meetup, none have been successful.  Because they don't inspire, their stances on the issues are bland and mostly the same as everyone elses. So those on the net have not gravitated towards the others because what Americans want in the next president they find in Gov Dean and not in the other candidate.

As I have told others.. Its not so much that Dean found the Net as the Net found Dean.
