Sacramento, CA. March 15-16, 2003--Delegate Paul Kujawsky, an
attorney from Studio City who teaches 4th grade, showed his support for
Sen. Lieberman. Kujawsky said he supports the Senator from Connecticut
because he is, "The most moderate Democrat, the most centrist Democrat
in the race." "Ideologically, I agree with that. Pragmatically,
it means he's the only Democrat with the chance of beating Bush," Kujawsky
said.
However, this was not overly friendly territory for Lieberman. Delegate David Lutness of Valencia stated, "Lieberman has been described to me as being Bush-lite. He's too conservative. He's too pious. I don't want a religious fanatic in the presidency. Oh, we have one. I don't want someone to tell me what's moral. I know what's moral... I don't like his conservatism. I don't like his religiousity. I want a liberal. I want the bad L word." Lutness was working for a call center for an internet service provider, but he said he and the whole phone in tech support operation amounting to about 2,000 people in several states were being laid off and the work outsourced. "The scuttlebutt is that it's going to end up in India or the Philippines or both," he said. |
