Dallas Rules Out Bidding for 2004 Conventions

Crayton Webb, press secretary to Dallas Mayor Laura Miller, stated (April 25, 2002):

"At this time the mayor doubts the City of Dallas will make a bid for either one of the conventions in 2004.  She's not terribly motivated on this issue in terms of the time and money compared to other vital projects that are currently facing the City of Dallas, including the Trinity River Project, a revitalization of downtown Dallas, consideration of a pay raise for police and fire fighters, and an upcoming bond program that could help improve our streets and upgrade our city parks."
