Democratic Campaign Office in Pompano Beach, Florida
Early Oct. 2004--Democratic campaign office at 24 North Ocean Blvd (near the intersection of Atlantic Blvd and A1A) in Pompano Beach, Florida.  At left is John Towmey, a restaurant entrepreneur who served as the office manager.
According to Barry Dockswell, president of the North Broward Democratic Club and North East area leader for the Broward County Democratic Party, this was the first time Democrats had an office in Pompano Beach in recent years.  The office, located in in a building slated for demolition, opened the day after Labor Day.  Dockwell said Volunteers did phone-banking; Dockswell noted they took care to be in  compliance with the Bipartisan Campaign Finance Reform Act.  The office also hosted debate parties.  Dockswell recalled that when the polls closed at 7 p.m. Democrats were "high as kites."  However, later in the evening reality set in.
