|Early Oct. 2004--Raul L. Martinez, Mayor of the City of Hialeah, stopped by the Florida Democratic Victory office at 3510 SW 8th Street in Miami. Martinez is a native of Cuba who came to the United States in 1960. He was first elected mayor in 1981 and has been re-elected seven times since. In 2004 he was featured in several TV ads done by the New Democrat Network (NDN) as part of its Hispanic Project. Hialeah, in Northwest Dade County, has a population of 236,000, making it the fifth largest city in Florida (source City of Hialeah website).|
