Gephardt for President, Inc.
On January 6, 2003, Rep. Gephardt filed papers with the FEC establishing Gephardt for President Exploratory Committee.  The campaign opened its headquarters in a downtown Washington, DC office building in the first part of February 2003.  Gephardt formally announced his campaign on February 19, 2003 in St. Louis, MO.  Steve Murphy is the national campaign manager.

(announced January 5, 2004)  Campaigns include special elections in California and New Mexico, campaign manager for Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-OR) and field director for Rep. Lois Capps (D-CA) re-election campaigns.
 
 
Wisconsin State Chairman Bob Friebert
(announced June 26, 2003)  Attorney and partner at the law firm of Friebert, Finerty & St. John, based in Milwaukee, WI.  Previously served as Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin in Madison, and as the state’s first State Public Defender.  Extensive experience in Democratic politics including most recently served as the finance chair for Jim Doyle’s successful campaign for Governor in 2002.
 

Endorsements
Wisconsin Assembly Democratic Leader, Representative Jim Kreuser (District 64, Kenosha) endorsed Gephardt in a conference call on August 1, 2003.

Congressman David Obey (WI-7) was among the Members of Congress endorsing Gephardt on May 14, 2003.
