	July 25, 2002--This speech marked Gore's first appearance on Capitol Hill since the inauguration of President George W. Bush in January 2001. 21st Century Democrats is a network of progressive Democrats. Formerly called Democrats 2000, the organization was founded in the mid-'80s by Jim Hightower (former Texas Agriculture Commissioner), Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA), and Representative Lane Evans (D-IL).
