-Former Sen. Hart visited Iowa on April 8-9, 2003. On April 8 he did a lunch with Linn County Democratic activists at Reynaldo's Restaurant in Cedar Rapids; met with the editorial staff of the Cedar Rapids Gazette; met with local labor officials (IBEW); and did media interviews. Proceeding to Iowa City he met with Johnson County Democratic activists and spoke on the Iraq War at the University of Iowa. In the evening he had dinner with Pat Walton, Karen Fitzsimmons, etc at the Davenport Radisson Hotel. On April 9 he breakfasted with Scott County Democratic activists at Country Kitchen in Davenport and did an interview at the Quad City Times with Ed Tibbits. -On January 22, 2003 in Iowa former Sen. Hart attended an afternoon reception at Splash in downtown Des Moines and delivered an evening lecture on "Political Corruption and Campaign Financing" at Iowa State University in Ames. [this was originally scheduled for Fall 2002 but Hart's work with the Commission on Nat. Security/21st Century and task force intervened]. |
