3, 2003, a four-day swing.
On October 31 starting at the Country House Restaurant
in Colo he proceeded to Rte 65 (parallel road between 270th and 280th Streets)
where he spoke on agriculture conservation and went on a pheasant hunting
trip; he did a Halloween Meet and Greet at Fischer Community Center in
Marshalltown; and did an Iowa Public Television taping in Johnston.
On November 1 he spoke on
next generation energy atUniversity of Northern Iowa's Agriculture Based
Industrial Lubricants Research Program in Waverly; did an event with Democrats
at Waverly Public Library in Waverly; did an event with Democrats at Chickasaw
County Center in New Hampton; did an event with Democrats at VFW Post No
4561 in Cresco; and did an event with Democrats at Marty’s Café
in the Luther College Centennial Union in Decorah.
On November 2 he did an
event with Democrats at Yen Hing Dragon Restaurant in Waukon; did an event

On November 3 he spoke on

School in Cedar Rapids.

-Gov. Dean received the formal endorsement of the
International Union of Painters and Allied Trades at IUPAT District Council
81 in Ankeny, Iowa late on the morning of October 27, 2003.
-Rep. Gephardt visited
Iowa on October
24-25, 2003.
Starting mid-afternoon on October 24 he participated
in a roundtable discussion with central Iowa women about health care and
tax cuts at Java Joe's in Des Moines; met with local Democrats at the Madison
County Historical Complex in Winterset, hosted by County Chair Bob Bell
and Joyce Kooker; and met with local Democrats at Bon's Bakehouse in Greenfield,
hosted by County Chair Linda Terry and Jay Howe.
On the morning and early afternoon of October 25
he plans to met local Democrats at the Cass County Courthouse in Atlantic,
hosted by County Chair Ron Feilmeyer; met local Democrats at Lil's Diner
in Audubon, hosted by County Chair Bob Nelson; and met local Democrats
at Shelby County Museum in Harlan, hosted by County Chair Donna Clothier.

On October 22 at the University of Iowa in Iowa
City he discussed higher education and had lunch with students at the River
Room Cafeteria, IMU, then did a meet and greet with student supporters;
next he did a series of events with local Democrats in three counties:
at Buc's Steak House in Washington; at Ogo's Restaurant in Montrose; and
at Big Muddy's Restaurant in Burlington.
On October 23 he breakfasted with Democrats at
Thunder Bay Grill in Davenport; spoke on the economy at Tec Industrial
in Davenport; had lunch with local Democrats at Bootlegger's Restaurant
in Muscatine; did an event with local Democrats at The Cedar Family Restaurant
in Tipton; and in the evening attended a fundraiser for State Senator Roger
Stewart at The Comfort Inn in Maquoketa.
-Sen. Edwards visited Iowa on October
22-23, 2003, part of what was billed as a week-long National Check
Up Tour designed "to diagnose President Bush's failing record on health
care and to highlight his own prescriptions to make the health care system
work for everyone."
On October 22 he had breakfast with Democratic
activists at the home of Mary Lynn Neuhaus in Dubuque; attended a house
party with Democratic activists at the home of Ron and Judy McMahon in
Manchester; met with Democratic activists at Elkader Deli in Elkader; met

On October 22 he toured rural Iowa with rural
advocates starting at I-35 and Highway 18-122 in Clear Lake; met with Floyd
County Democrats at Charles City Public Library; met with Chickasaw County
Democrats at the home of Kit and Judy O'Donahoe in New Hampton; met with
Clayton County Democrats at Johnson's Restaurant in Elkader; met with Allamakee
County Democrats at the home of Mary Jan White in Waukon (98th); and met
with Howard County Democrats at Crestwood High School in Cresco (99th county).

Iowa
on October 17-18, 2003. On the evening of October 17
he attended the Polk County Democrats Fall Harvest Dinner and Auction at
Isaac Walton League in Des Moines; and appeared live on "Iowa Press" from
the Iowa Public Television studios. On the morning of October
18 he met with nurses at Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines.
Gov. Dean, Sen. Edwards, Rep.
Gephardt, Sen. Kerry, Rep. Kucinich and Amb. Carol Moseley Braun participated
in the AARP Presidential Forum at Embassy Suites in Des Moines on October
15, 2003:
-Sen. Kerry visited Iowa on October
15 and 17-18, 2003. Planned events on October 16 and an appearance
on October 17 were cancelled due to the vote on Iraq funding.
On October 15 he spoke on senior issues at Mason
City Public Library; participated in the AARP Presidential Forum at Embassy
Suites in Des Moines; and did an event with local Democrats at Taso's Steak
House in Oskaloosa.
(On October 16 he had planned
to do three events with firefighters: a morning event at Hotel Ottumwa
in Ottumwa; an early afternoon event at Hose Company #4 in Davenport; and
a late afternoon event at the Cedar Rapids Firefighters Memorial; and an
evening event with Linn County Democrats at IBEW Local 405 in Cedar Rapids.
A planned appearance at the World Food Prize at Des Moines Marriott at
mid-afternoon on October 17 was also cancelled).
On the evening of October 17 Kerry returned
to attend the Polk County Democrats Fall Harvest and Auction at Izaak Walton
League in Des Moines.
On October 18 he spoke on work development at
Black Hawk County Employment Training Center in Waterloo; attended an event
with local Democrats at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls; attended
an event with local Democrats at Fort Dodge Library in Fort Dodge; and
attended a Boone County Democratic dinner at the Boone Cultural Center
in Boone.

visited Iowa on October 15, 2003; planned events on October

At midday on October 6 he spoke on senior issues at Council Bluffs Senior
Center in Council Bluffs, unveiling his "Compact with the Greatest Generation;"
in the late afternoon he held a four county activist event at The Livestock
Auction in Dunlap; and in the evening he did an event at Buena Vista College
in Storm Lake. On October 7 he spoke on senior issues at Siouxland
Senior Center in Sioux City; had lunch with Democrats at Lally's Restaurant
in Le Mars; did an event with Democrats at Cherokee Community College in
Cherokee; and concluded with an evening event with Democrats at Northwest
Iowa Community College in Sheldon.

on the afternoon and evening of October 6, 2003. In Des Moines
he dropped by Drake Diner to greet customers; he then participated in the
final one of Sen. Harkin's "Hear It from the Heartland" forums at Iowa
Central Community College in Fort Dodge, and afterwards mingled with participants.
-Gov. Dean held a rally at
the University of Iowa's Memorial Union in Iowa City, Iowa on October
5, 2003 part of his "Raise the Roots" tour of college campuses, to
kick off Generation Dean Week.
