WASHINGTON, D.C.—Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) announced today the association’s official endorsement of President George W. Bush and Vice President Richard B. Cheney for re-election. The association’s national board of directors voted unanimously yesterday to endorse Bush-Cheney for re-election. ABC is hosting its annual national legislative conference in Washington, D.C. this week.

“ABC proudly and enthusiastically endorses President George W. Bush and Vice President Richard B. Cheney for re-election,” said Edward L. Rispone, ABC National Chairman, Industrial Specialty Contractors, Baton Rouge, La. “President Bush and Vice President Cheney have consistently supported ABC’s merit shop philosophy of open competition and free enterprise.

President Bush has been a strong leader for the millions of employees involved in the U.S. construction industry, issuing an executive order banning mandatory union-only project labor agreements on federally funded or assisted construction projects, initiating growth-oriented budget policies, advocating association health plans and ensuring sensible government regulatory practices.”

Associated Builders and Contractors is a national association representing more than 23,000 merit shop construction and construction-related firms in 80 chapters across the United States.

“For our industry and the millions of Americans it employs, the re-election of President George W. Bush and Vice President Richard B. Cheney is a major priority,” said Rispone. “It is crucial that we maintain an administration in the White House that understands how to create career opportunities while being fiscally responsible. President Bush and Vice President Cheney have been true friends of merit shop construction, and we look forward to four more years of their principled leadership in the White House.”
