	September 8, 2003--In a September 10 statement, SEIU president Andrew L. Stern had this to say about Edwards' appearance at the conference: "John Edwards, a person who a lot of members didn't know much about, introduced himself powerfully, and moved from having almost no support to being one of the top three candidates that the members leaving this conference are interested in."
