"Democratic Party Unites Behind Kerry"
March 11, 2004-Sen. Kerry, the presumptive Democratic nominee, was backed by many of his Democratic Senate colleagues as he talked with reporters after attending the Senate Democratic Policy Luncheon.  Earlier he held meetings with the Congressional Black Caucus, the Democratic House Caucus, and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.  Deputy campaign manager Steve Elmendorf said Kerry talked about how he wanted to involve members in the campaign and that "people were universally positive."  Elmendorf said there is "a hunger to be unified and win."  Less than a week earlier the campaign moved into its new headquarters off McPherson Square in downtown DC.  Elmendorf said the biggest challenge the campaign faces now is "how to expand and capture all the people who want to help."
