State Director Sue Casey
(May 2004; in Boston through Convention)  Casey moved to Denver in 1986 to work on Gary Hart's presidential campaign.  She served on the Denver City Council from 1995-2001, and ran for mayor in 2003.  Casey served as a senior advisor for Kerry's New Hampshire primary campaign (announced Oct. 15, 2003).  A New Hampshire native, she grew up in Somersworth and attended Somersworth High School.  She organized in New Hampshire for Ted Kennedy in 1980; with Jeanne Shaheen, Casey led Gary Hart's 1984 New Hampshire primary win; she was a senior staffer on Hart's 1988 campaign and managed his short-lived re-entry; top advisor on Bob Kerrey's 1992 campaign.  Casey is the author of Hart and Soul: Gary Hart's New Hampshire Odyssey...and Beyond (1986).  She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of New Hampshire, 1971, and has a master's in social work from the University of Connecticut, 1975, and a doctorate in international affairs from the University of Denver, 1995.

(First paid staffer on the ground; arrived shortly before Kerry's June 21 visit)  Press secretary to Congressman Xavier Becerra (CA-31) from Oct. 2001 to June 2004.  Prior to that, public affairs manager and political consultant for the Los Angeles office of the international public relations firm, The MWW Group. Haro has been involved in 18 political campaigns with roles ranging from volunteer to senior staffer/manager.  Bachelor's degree in political science and communications from Loyola University Chicago, 1999.  Master's in political science from Loyola University Chicago, 2000.

Director Broward "Beage" Atwater
Served as Executive Director of the Missouri Democratic Party and as Director of the Missouri Victory 2002 campaign.  Deputy Campaign Manager for Missouri Governor Bob Holden's 2000 campaign.  Other campaigns worked on Leigh Harvey McNairy's congressional campaign in North Carolina's 3rd CD and Rep. Darlene Hooley of Oregon.  Field director on Alan Wheat's U.S. Senate campaign in 1994.  A veteran of the 1992 Bill Clinton campaign.  Grassroots organizer for Bob Beckel and Associates, 1989-91.  Began her career in 1987 as a staffer on Rep. Dick Gephardt's first presidential campaign.  Grew up in South Florida.  Atwater also serves on the Democrats for the West steering committee. 
Deputy Director (early vote) Peter Brown
Worked on Capitol Hill for seven years, finishing in the office of Congresswoman Lois Capps.  Political and field director on Rick Larsen's 2000 campaign in Washington's 2nd CD, helping to capture the seat opened by Jack Metcalf's (R) retirement.  Field director on Lois Capps' congressional campaign in 1998.   MBA from the George Washington University and undergraduate degree in international relations from Knox College.  Native of Colorado.

Political Director Meredith Chaiken
Managed the “Faces of America” segment of the Democratic National Convention.  Served as deputy political director for Kerry's New Hampshire primary campaign while taking a semester off from the Kennedy School; previously interned in the Kerry offices in Boston and Manchester, NH.  Volunteered on on Shannon O’Brien’s gubernatorial campaign in Massachusetts in 2002.  Research and operations manager for Voter News Service, 2000.  Worked as an economist at the Bureau of Labor Statistics.  Masters' in Public Policy from the Kennedy School of Government, 2004; undergraduate degree from Cornell University with a degree in industrial an labor relations, 1998.  Originally from Oceanside, New York.
 
 
Boiler Room Director (essentially the Election Day operation) Rich Gardner
Regional field director for the national Kerry/Edwards campaign.  During the primaries, starting in Sept. 2003, Gardner served as a field organizer for Kerry in Iowa (Iowa City) and in Michigan (1st CD-Southfield), then as Connecticut State Director.  Prior to joining the campaign he practiced law for two years at O'Melveny and Myers in Washington, DC and at Akin Gump for one year.  J.D. from the University of Virginia Law School.  B.A. from Harvard College with a concentration in Government, 1995.

GOTV Field Director Darden Copeland
(For the last month)  Field director on Sen. Joe Lieberman's NH primary campaign (started May 15, 2003).  Earlier in 2003, Copeland managed two winning state senate special elections in TN and OK.  In 2002 he served as field director/deputy campaign manager on Dan Blue's unsuccessful primary campaign for U.S. Senate in North Carolina, and in the fall was the GOTV Director for the North Carolina Coordinated Campaign.  Field director on Tim Kaine's successful campaign for lieutenant governor in Virginia, 2001.  Worked in Washington, DC for the polling firm of Greenberg Quinlan Research.  Worked for Gore 2000 under Donna Brazile in 1999 and 2000.  Other experience includes work for Gephardt's ECG PAC in 1998, and scheduling for Don Beyer's unsuccessful gubernatorial run in Virginia in 1997.  Copeland is a graduate of the University of Richmond.

Hamrick worked with the DSCC. In 2002 he served as the Coordinated Campaign director in South Dakota where he ran the field and Native American programs for Sen. Tim Johnson's successful re-election campaign.  Previously he worked for Gov. Minner of Delaware as her representative in Washington.  He was with the Gore campaign in Iowa, Maryland and Delaware.  He has also worked for Rep. John Dingell (D-MI) and managed his campaign in 1998.  Master's Degree in Public Administration from the George Washington University.
Kottmeyer served as executive director of the Missouri Democratic Party through Aug. 2004 (came to Colorado when Missouri shut down).

(Started beginning of October).  Texas State Director for Kerry/Edwards from July to October 2004.  Earlier served as an advisor for the Edwards for President primary campaign.  Worked on the Florida recount as lead lawyer at the West Palm Beach Legal Intake Center, Nov.-Dec. 2000.  Central Political Director on the Gore/Lieberman campaign, responsible for supervision of approximately 20 paid employees in over ten Central United States, July-Nov. 2000.  Arizona Deputy State Director/Political Director on Clinton/Gore 96, Fall 1996.  Field Director in Texas Friends of Bill Clinton headquarters, Jan.-March 1992.  Rodriguez joined the law firm of Leonard Frost in May 2001, after serving in a variety of government positions.  Counsel to the Solicitor at the U.S. Department of Labor, 1999-2001; Chief of Staff for the Office of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs at the U.S. Department of Labor; in the White House Office of Congressional Affairs; and Deputy Associate Director and later Acting Associate Director in the White House Office of Presidential Personnel.  He worked for former Texas Attorney General Dan Morales, serving as a Legislative Liaison and later as an Assistant Attorney General.  Graduate of St. Edward's University, where he was student body president; law degree from The University of Texas School of Law.  Son of migrant farmworkers; native of Alamo, Texas.

>> By campaign's end Colorado Victory 2004 had well over 100 people.   (In an Aug. 24, 2004 Colorado Democratic Party press release, the party had announced that it was hiring a staff of over 60 for its Colorado Victory 2004 campaign). 
 

Colorado Veterans for Kerry: In February 2004, Bill Holen, a Vietnam Veteran and former congressional aide with Senator Gary Hart of Colorado, and Jim Hudson, a nationally recognized Vietnam Veteran advocate, began initial organizational efforts on Colorado Veterans for Kerry.  Beginning  with a core group of 6 Colorado veterans, the organization grew to nearly 2,500 Colorado veterans from all military services and representing veterans from World War II, Korea, Vietnam and the Iraq War.  During the campaign, Colorado Veterans for Kerry worked with the Democratic National Committee and national Kerry campaign on push back press events when President Bush or other Republican officials campaigned in Colorado.  Men and women veterans participated in over 36 parades across the State of Colorado, initiated or participated in over 26 press conferences or press events, walked precincts, and worked phone banks throughout Colorado in support of the Kerry/Edwards campaign.
