(announced Nov. 10, 2003, replacing Jim Jordan)  Came to the campaign from position as chief of staff to Sen. Edward Kennedy, where she started in 2000.  Director of the Office of Public Liaison at the White House, appointed Feb. 1999.  Executive director of EMILY's List for over five years, and previously the organization's political director.  Managed Les AuCoin's U.S. Senate campaign in Oregon in 1992; and Sen. Claiborne Pell (D-RI)'s 1990 re-election campaign.  Served as director of personnel and earlier as director of federal-state relations for Gov. Michael Dukakis (D-MA), 1987-90.  Managed Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT)'s 1986 re-election campaign; and Rep. Ed Markey's (D-MA) 1984 re-election campaign.  A field director on Barney Frank's 1980 campaign, in which he was first elected to Congress, and then served as a legislative aide to Frank.  Staff associate and receptionist for Rep. Deputy Campaign Manager for Political Steve Elmendorf
(Jan. 2004-after Gephardt withdrew)  Served as chief of staff and senior advisor on Rep. Dick Gephardt's campaign.  Chief of staff to Gephardt in the House Democratic Leader's office from January 1997; deputy chief of staff to Gephardt from July 1992.  He earlier served as chief of staff to Rep. Dennis Eckart (D-OH) and deputy chief of staff to Sen. Brock Adams (D-WA).  Elmendorf worked on the national field staff of Mondale for President.  Graduate of Trinity College in Hartford, CT with a degree in history, 1982.

Deputy Campaign Manager Bill Lynch
(mid-July 2004)  President of Bill Lynch Associates, LLC, political consulting firm.  Vice chair of the DNC since January 7, 1997.  Managed David Dinkins two campaigns for mayor, and served as the Deputy Mayor for Intergovernmental Affairs.  Coordinated Nelson Mandela's visit to NYC in June 1991 and helped bring the 1992 Democratic National Convention to NYC.  Chief of Staff to Dinkins when he was Manhattan Borough President. Served as Director of Legislation and Political Action for District Council 1701 of AFSCME.  Campaign Manager for Congressman Major Owens and Assemblyman Frank Boyland and worked as a senior staff member on several political campaigns and voter registration drives, including Reverend Jesse Jackson's 1984 and 1988 presidential campaign, and Walter Mondale's 1984 presidential campaign (Deputy Campaign Mayor for New York State). 
 
 
Deputy Campaign Manager for V.P. Operations Marcus Jadotte
Prior to moving over to work with Senator Edwards in July, Jadotte served as Kerry's deputy campaign manager for over a year (announced May 28, 2003).  Previously he served as chief of staff in the office of Rep. Peter Deutsch (D-FL).  In 2000 Jadotte was the Gore-Lieberman campaign's Florida state director.  During the Clinton administration he worked in the Department of Labor in the Office of the Deputy Secretary and in Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs.  In 1998 he served as political director on the MacKay-Dantzler campaign for governor of Florida.  In 1996 he was a regional director on the Clinton-Gore re-election campaign in Florida.  Jadotte was special assistant to the late Gov. Lawton Chiles, and communications director for the Florida AFL-CIO.  He has worked in the Florida House of Representatives and in the Agency for Health Care Administration.   B.S. degree in Economics from Florida State University.  From Opa-locka, Florida. 
 
 
Deputy Campaign Manager for Operations Matthew Butler
(hired by Kerry in April 2002)  Butler served as Chief Financial Officer for The Kerry Committee (Sen. Kerry's 2002 Senate campaign), the Citizen Soldier Fund (Sen. Kerry's Leadership PAC), and then for John Kerry for President through the contested primary season.  Formerly, he worked as an attorney with the Haight, Brown & Bonesteel, LLP in Los Angeles.  He worked for the Democratic National Committee's national Coordinated Campaign effort in 2000 and on the 1996 Clinton re-election campaign.   He holds a B.A. in International Studies from American University, 1994, and a J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law, 2000.  Butler is a native of Columbus, Ohio.
 
 
 
Chief Executive Officer Karen Hancox
(announced April 22, 2004)  Previously deputy campaign manager on the Gephardt campaign starting April 2003.  Chief of staff for Gore 2000.  In early 1998 Hancox worked on Lewinsky damage control at the DNC.  From March 1995-Jan. 1997 she served as deputy political director at the White House under Doug Sosnik; she started in the Clinton administration in January 1993 in the Office of Legislative Affairs.  Hancox handled Congresssional Relations on Clinton/Gore 1992.

National Field Director John Norris
(announced April 16, 2004)  Previously served as Iowa State Director for the Kerry campaign.   In 2002 Norris ran for Congress in the 4th District against Rep. Tom Latham (R).  Prior to his campaign,  Norris served as chief of staff to Gov. Tom Vilsack, starting in 1999.  In 1998 he served as chairman and executive director of the Iowa Democratic Party.  Previously he served as chief of staff to Rep. Leonard Boswell and as district representative for then-Rep. Tom Harkin.  He owned and managed the Old Hotel Restaurant in Greenfield from 1989 to 1992 and served as vice president of the Greenfield Chamber of Commerce.  During the mid-1980's Norris served as state director for the Iowa Farm Unity Coalition.  A native of Red Oak, Norris graduated from Simpson College in Indianola with a B.A. in political science in 1981 and received his J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law in 1995.

Jonathan Epstein - IA, MO, MN, WI

Started on the campaign working in the political department at Kerry national headquarters as the campaign desk for Iowa, New Hampshire and California; in Sept. 2003 he took on the role of Caucus/Field Director in Iowa.  National political director for the Citizen Soldier Fund, Kerry's leadership PAC.  Campaign director at the DSCC in the beginning of the 2002 cycle.  Deputy political director at the DSCC in 2000.  Outreach director for AIPAC from 1997-99.  Deputy finance director for Max Cleland's 1996 Senate campaign.  Graduated with a B.A. in Economics from Trinity College in Hartford, CT in 1997. 

Lisa Garcia - NM, AZ, NV, OR, WA

Garcia started on the campaign in Aug. 2003 as the desk for NM, OK, WI, VA, MD and TX and continued in that role through those primaries.  Previously she worked as Government Relations Director at EDS for about three years and for the Texas Legislature for about six years.  She worked on the campaigns of Paul Hobby for Controller in 1998 and Mario Gallegos for State Senate in 1994, and was involved in many campaigns as she was growing up in Houston, including those of Mickey Leland and Barbara Jordan.  Graduate of the University of Texas with a B.A. in Communications.

During the primaries, starting in Sept. 2003, Gardner served as a field organizer for Kerry in Iowa (Iowa City) and in Michigan (1st CD-Southfield), then as Connecticut State Director.  Prior to joining the campaign he practiced law for two years at O'Melveny and Myers in Washington, DC and at Akin Gump for one year.  J.D. from the University of Virginia Law School.  B.A. from Harvard College with a concentration in Government, 1995.

Corey Ealons- NC, ME, other states

In 2002 managed managed former Assistant U.S. Attorney Artur Davis' successful congressional campaign, defeating incumbent Earl Hilliard.  Started in politics during the 2000 election cycle as a member of Sen. Bill Bradley's advance team.  Worked as an associate with Ketchum Communications, an international public relations firm with its Southeast headquarters in Atlanta.  Graduate of the University of Alabama, with a bachelor's degree in Public Relations.  Prior to university Ealons served in the U.S. Army with the 3rd United States Infantry, the Presidential Honor Guard in Washington, DC; he served as a photojournalist and public affairs specialist from 1992-96.

>By Election Day the campaign had developed a 2.8 million person e-mail list.  It did a lot of testing.  Mattzie sketched out the process at the 2005 Politics Online Conference: early in the morning, at 7:00 a.m. or so, they'd send out 20,000 or so e-mails to three or four East Coast segments using different variations (for example, subject line, sender); at 10:00 a.m. they'd compare how the variations did; and by 11:00 they'd send out the highest performing version.

(announced March 13, 2004)  Moved to DNC from position as Finance Director of Kerry for President, Inc.  Maroney served as Finance Director from the start of the campaign and has been Kerry's Finance Director since September 1997.  Previously, Maroney served as Finance Director for Rep. Joe Kennedy (D-MA) from 1992-97.  Maroney started out under the current Democratic Party Chairman, Terry McAuliffe, working for former House Minority Leader Richard Gephardt as Deputy Finance Director in 1991.  He is  a 1990 graduate of Rollins College with a B.A. in History and is originally from Philadelphia.

Director, Internet Communications Morra Aarons
(moved to the DNC effective Aug. 1, 2004)  Deputy Fundraising Director for John Kerry for President, overseeing Internet fundraising and online marketing.  Before joining the campaign Aarons was Head of Marketing and Public Relations for ebookers.com, Europe's number one travel Web site and Senior Marketing Manager at iVillage UK.  During the 2000 cycle she served as New York based iVillage's Public Relations and Public Affairs manager and worked on its "Election 2000" program.  Aarons holds a B.A in Political Science from Brown University. Fred Baron
(announced May 24, 2004)  Most recently served as Finance Chair for John Edwards for President.  Baron has actively fundraised for both Bill Clinton's and Al Gore's presidential bids as well as the DNC, and national, state, and local candidates. Baron is currently a partner at Baron & Budd PC in Dallas, TX.  Baron also served as President of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America in 2000.
 
 
Field Director Karen Hicks
(announced by the Kerry for President on April 16, 2004 as Deputy National Field Director) Previously served as New Hampshire State Director for the Dean campaign. Political director for Gov. Jeanne Shaheen’s 2002 bid for the U.S. Senate.  Political director for Shaheen’s 2000 race for Governor.  Prior to that, Hicks served as Shaheen’s Health Policy Advisor.  From 1993-97, she served as executive director of New Hampshire Citizen Action. 
 
 
Senior Advisor Janice Griffin
(announced April 16, 2004)  Serves on the Board of the CBC Political Action Committee.  Headed Vice President Gore's leadership PAC, Leadership '02, after serving as Secretary of Gore/Lieberman 2000 and as Director of African American Outreach.  At the DNC she served as chair of the Women's Leadership Forum and helped to found the Women's Vote Center.

(announced April 16, 2004)  Former advisor to the Dean campaign.  Former Chief of Staff to Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro.  Charged with designing and managing the DNC's surrogate operation.

Chief of Staff David McKean
Started in the position in 1999; minority staff director for the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations; chief of staff to Rep. Joseph P. Kennedy II; senior fellow at The Annenberg Washington Program.  McKean earned his bachelor's degree from Harvard; J.D. from Duke Law School; and master of law from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.  He is author of "Tommy the Cork: Washington's Ultimate Insider from Roosevelt to Reagan" (Oct. 2003) and co-author of "Friends in High Places: The Rise and Fall of Clark Clifford."
