April 17, 2002--Sen. Kerry, a leading opponent of  the Bush administration's proposal to drill for oil and gas in ANWR, spoke to reporters about the status of his efforts during a press availibility with Sens. Joe Lieberman (D-CT) and Paul Wellstone (D-MN).  They succeeded; the next day the measure was defeated by a rather decisive margin.
