President's Day, Feb. 18, 2002. Pat Buchanan relishes being at the microphone as Ralph Nader looks on. "America has become not a true democracy but a virtual democracy," Buchanan stated. He said the Commission on Presidential Debates has a similar effect in politics as a conspiracy in restraint of trade does in economics. Buchanan said his exclusion from the debates in 2000 had dealt a "mortal blow" to the Reform Party, which would have clearly passed the 5% threshhold if he had been allowed to participate. |
