Dear Mr. Nader,

First, we would like to thank you for being a champion for progressive causes.  For over four decades, you have fought to improve our environment, our public schools, workers rights, healthcare, government accountability, civil rights, and so many just causes.  We understand your desire to create a better America - that is our mission too.

And that is why we need your help.

We formed our group, TheNaderFactor.com, because we are alarmed by what the Bush Administration and its extremist, right-wing allies are doing to this nation.  We see all the causes we care about – many of the very causes for which you have fought so hard, for so long – being set back years, if not decades.  We want to put a stop to this.

We know you believe there is not a significant difference between Democrats and Republicans.  We respectfully disagree.  We believe there is a profound difference between the extreme right-wing Republicans who are in charge in Washington and the Democratic Party.  Can the Democratic Party improve?  Of course it can.  But, four more years of this Administration would only further destroy the progressive causes we have all seen decimated over the last four years.

We need your help.  Democrats across America are united like never before.  But, we believe the only way to fight the right wing and its policies is through unity amongst Democrats, progressives and Nader supporters.  Without that unity, we fear that these extremist policies will continue unabated.  If you can think of another way, besides a united front, to change these policies, we would love to know what it is.  But there is little time, and too much at stake.

We also formed our group because we believe that progressive voices must be heard in the Democratic Party. As veterans of two of this year’s biggest grassroots movements, the Dean for America campaign, and the Draft Wesley Clark effort, we know that true change begins at the grassroots, and we intend to continue pushing for the voices of average citizens to be heard in Washington.

In the spirit of building this unified movement we are asking two things. First, we would like to meet with you, discuss our group's goals, and hopefully convince you that we share a similar agenda to improving America.  Second, we would like you to respond to our petition , at www.TheNaderFactor.com.  We want to hear from you and your supporters about what specific changes you would like to see from the Democratic Party.

In fact, we would hope that you post our petition on your site so we can personally deliver your comments and others to the head of the Democratic National Committee.

Thank you, and we look forward to your response.

Respectfully,

Tricia Enright, Chris Kofinis, David Jones, John Hlinko, Karl Frisch
