May 31, 2003--Libertarian candidate Gary Nolan paused for a moment after speaking to the Libertarian Party of the District of Columbia convention at the Young Chow Restaurant. Seated around a table at the back of the restaurant, the small group of activists and Nolan, accompanied by campaign manager Steve Dasbach and aide Erica, discussed such matters as fifty-state ballot access and getting signatures ("sigs"), the wasted vote problem, getting votes versus getting people involved, and the possibility of the Greens not running a candidate. In an interview after the meeting Nolan stated, "It's not a matter of do I get a million votes or two million votes or a half million votes, it's a matter of what do we do for the party." | |
