Battle for the Senate


	October 2, 2002--Senate Patty Murray, chair of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, and Senator Bill Frist, chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, spoke at a National Press Club luncheon. A couple of days earlier, on September 30, Sen. Bob Torricelli (D-NJ), trailing Republican Doug Forrester in polls because of ethics problems, announced he was ending his re-election bid, further roiling the battle for control of the U.S. Senate.
