"The President Plan for Jobs and Growth" Arrives on Capitol Hill
February 27, 2003.   Treasury Secretary John Snow, on the job since February 3, joined Republican leaders as the Bush tax cut plan was introduced in Congress.  The Jobs and Growth Tax Act of 2003, H.R. 2, would "amend the Internal Revenue Code to provide additional tax incentives to encourage economic growth."
Bill Thomas, chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, plans hearings on the legislation in the first week of March.
Rep. Chris Cox (R-CA), chair of the Republican Policy Committee spoke as Rep. Thomas, Secretary Snow, Rep. Jim McCrery (R-LA), also on the Ways and Means Committee, and Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA), chair of the Senate Republican Conference looked on.  Not shown is Rep. Deborah Pryce (R-OH), chair of the House Republican Conference.
