Note. In a May 10, 2003 interview Sen. Ford described himself as an organizer and said, "I don't endorse, I support."  He considered organizing for Kerry or Edwards, but shied away from Kerry because the Kerry campaign seemed to support "the new form of campaigning."  Specifically, Ford was sharply critical of the use of computers in the 2002 campaign in South Carolina, describing it as "pure garbage."  "We could have won this state," he said.  "There was no way for us to lose."  Ford said the party had been "sold a bill of goods."
