Columbia, SC, May 3, 2003--Representatives of the League of the South
were kept well back from the debate hall. A spokesman condemned the
Democratic candidates who
"...criticize our symbols, and we simply will not stand for it without expressing our views. They have all said take the battle flag down. Dick Gephardt has even said it should be flown at no time at no place. We don't appreciate the outsiders coing in and telling South Carolinians how to live. We are fighting, we are the League of the South and we are fighting for our sovereignty. South Carolina is a country and we intend to be free again." |
