Columbia, SC, May 3, 2003--Supporters of Sen. John Kerry and Rep. Dick Gephardt (photo below) lined up outside the Rosewoods Building at the State Fairgrounds on Saturday morning.  Inside, a meet and greet provided the opportunity for six of the candidates to meet with convention delegates.  Sen. Lieberman did not attend due to the Sabbath, but his campaign had many people on hand to spread the word; only Rep. Kucinich and Rev. Sharpton had no presence.  Each campaign had a booth, and depending on the campaign one could find literature, stickers, food, and sign up sheets, as well as enthusiastic volunteers and staffers.  Some of the campaigns also had elected officials on hand.
Nicole Williams, a student at Swansea High School (Lexington County); Joey Opperman, a student at USC; Mike Anderson, a resident of Columbia; and Heidi McKinley, Amber Moore, Whitney Mack, and Allison Atkins, all students at Swansea, show support for Rep. Gephardt.  Moore organized the Swansea students.  After looking up all the Democrats, she decided she supported Gephardt and filled out the information in the volunteer section of the campaign's website.  About three weeks before this event she received a call asking if she could help.
