Bush/Cheney in Iowa
President Bush made a strong push in Iowa at the close, visiting the state seven times in the last month.  Earlier, however, the Hawk Eye state did not receive such personal attention; the four Republican principals made only six visits from March through July 2004, and seventeen months elapsed between Bush's November 2002 visit and his return to Des Moines for an event in April 2004.  In contrast to neighboring Wisconsin, which merited five bus tours by Bush, Iowa only served as the finishing point and the starting point for a couple of bus tours by the President.
