| In the closely fought gubernatorial race Gov. Ruth Ann Minner (D) was re-elected to a second term, defeating Republican William Swain Lee by a margin of 50.9% to 45.8%; Independent Party/Libertarian candidate Frank Infante garnered 3.3%. In the General Assembly, Democrats picked up three seats in the House, cutting their deficit from 29R to 12D to 26R to 15D; in the Senate, with 10 seats up, the balance remained at 13D to 8R. |
