Defrauded Nader Petitions Signers and Democratic Party Chair File Challenge to Nader Today

Manchester, NH - Today four New Hampshire voters who were defrauded by representatives of Ralph Nader's campaign and Kathy Sullivan, chair of the New Hampshire Democratic Party, filed with the New Hampshire Secretary of State's office a challenge to the nomination papers submitted by the Ralph Nader for President campaign based on evidence of fraud, forgery and deceit.

The challenge is based on Nader failing to submit a sufficient number of valid nomination papers from ballot in the Second Congressional District; people collecting the signatures engaging in widespread fraud and dishonesty; Nader's nomination papers stating he is a candidate of a fictitious political party and Nader failing to collect signatures for Jan Pierce, his designated running mate in New Hampshire.

"We have identified widespread fraud, forgery and deceit on the part of representatives of the Nader for President campaign, giving us no choice but to challenge his nomination papers. The integrity of the ballot process must be protected," said Kathy Sullivan, Democratic State Party Chair.

Dorie Grizzard of Nashua is one of the voters who came forward and signed the challenge today.

"One day this summer, when I was shopping at Shaw's on Main Street, I was approached by a man collecting signatures. He asked if I was a Democrat and said that signing this petition would help the Democrats. He said the petitions on a clipboard and he folded a paper over the top of the petition. He asked me to sign the bottom to help the Democrats and I did. At no time did he mention Ralph Nader. I would not have signed it if I knew it was for Ralph Nader," said Grizzard.

We are asking anyone who feels they were misled into signing one of these petitions to please contact the state Democratic Party headquarters at 603-623-2999.
