NH Registration Trends-Elections of Nov. 7, 2000, Nov. 5, 2002, Jan. 27, 2004, Sept. 2004, and Nov. 2, 2004.

The total number of registered voters (including Election Day registrations) was almost the same on Nov. 2, 2004 as on Nov. 7, 2000.  However the Republican share of registered voters declined by 11.7 % (from 35.32 % to 31.17 %), while the Democratic share increased slightly (from 26.24% to 26.73%) and the Undeclared share increased 9.5 % (from 38.44 % to 42.10%).  For the most part this trend held statewide.   Between Nov. 2000 and Nov. 2004, the number of registered Democrats and proportion of registered Democrats increased in all counties except Hillsborough and Sullivan counties.  Democrats may have benefited from the first-in-the-nation presidential primary and the voter registration efforts of groups such as America Coming Together.
