RICHMOND- "Virginians have sent a clear message in overwhelming numbers that they are united behind the values and principles of the Republican Party.

"Virginians rallied around President George W. Bush in support of moving our country forward on a path toward greater prosperity, greater freedom and greater security, instead of turning backward to a time of higher taxes and less security at home and abroad.

"The election results are a tremendous setback for Governor Mark Warner and Lieutenant Governor Tim Kaine. The top two elected officials in the Virginia Democrat Party put their personal credibility and political organizations on the line and they failed miserably.

"After being denied a voice throughout the debate of Mark Warner's record tax increases, the message Virginians sent today is in support of tax cuts that will create new jobs. The Democrat policies of increased taxes and added government regulation have been convincingly rejected, and it is Mark Warner and Tim Kaine that are now squarely at odds with the great majority of Virginians.

"The Republican Party of Virginia enters the 2005 elections with the momentum and excitement from one of the strongest grassroots organizations in the country. We have great candidates for both statewide office and the House of Delegates. The Republican Party will be tireless in our efforts to protect our majority in the General Assembly and return principled leadership to the Governor's Mansion by electing Jerry Kilgore."
