working on key provisions of the Central America Free Trade Agreement.
Worked on Capitol Hill for nearly nine years through March/April 2003,
including as legislative director to Congressman Bob Smith (R-OR) and ultimately
serving as chief of staff to Congresswoman Jennifer Dunn (R-WA).

-On August 25, 2004 the campaign announced
the Bush-Cheney '04 Oregon Sportsmen Coalition. Chair is Jerod
Broadfoot. He is a bowhunter and works as an
account manager at Pac/West Communications.
-On
July 22, 2004 the campaign announced the Oregon Firefighters for Bush
Coalition at the Coburg Volunteer Fire Department. Chair of Firefighters
for Bush is Jim Oeder, who is a Volunteer Training
Captain with Lebanon Fire District and has 23 years of service at Lebanon;
he is a past president of the Oregon Volunteer Firefighters Association.
-Enedelia Schofield is the
Bush-Cheney
'04 Oregon Educators for Bush steering committee chair. She
is the principal of an elementary school in Hillsboro, Oregon.
-On April 6, 2004 the campaign
announced the Bush-Cheney '04 Oregon Farm & Ranch Leadership Team,
chaired by Paulette Pyle. She is Grassroots
Director of Oregonians for Food and Shelter, "a coalition which works to
protect the rights of natural resource based businesses in Oregon."

Oregon has 100 percent vote by mail. Ballots are mailed out any time
between the 14th and 18th days before election; "election day" is thus
more drawn out than in some states. During this period the
campaign sent people to the 36 county courthouses to keep track of who
had voted; people who had voted could then be removed from the contact
list. The idea was to get as many people as possible to vote early
as this allowed more attention to be focused on those less committed voters
later on.
