On January 2, 2004 the campaign announced the endorsement of campaign veteran and author Dayton Duncan. Duncan was chief of staff for Governor Hugh Gallen's two terms from 1979-1983; deputy national press secretary for Walter Mondale's presidential campaign in 1984; and national press secretary for Michael Dukakis in 1988. He is the author of nine books and lives in Walpole. On January 2, 2004 the campaign announced the endorsement of Rep. Judith Spang of Durham, bringing the total to 43.
