(started Feb. 10, 2003; announced Feb. 14) Hicks recently served as political director for Gov. Jeanne Shaheen's 2002 bid for the U.S. Senate. She was also political director for Shaheen's 2000 race for Governor. Prior to that, Hicks served as Shaheen's Health Policy Advisor. From 1993-97, she worked as executive director of New Hampshire Citizen Action. Hicks lives in Concord.

He is an internist and allegist with the Nashua Medical Group, member of the Hillsborough County Democratic Committee and the state Democratic Committee, and was a Bradley delegate in 2000.

On September 10, 2003 the campaign announced endorsements of six prominent Democrats from southern New Hampshire: Windham Town Democratic Chair Scott Brody; Windham resident and Salem High School Democrats Chair Dave Brody; former Salem State Representative Michael Collins; Anne Leslie, the former Democratic New Hampshire State House leader who represented Salem; prominent Democratic activist Raymond "Mr. Mayor" Senechel of Plaistow; and former State House candidate Larry Weil from Salem.

Rice, a Concord resident, is the retired president and CEO of Bancroft Products, a non-profit organization that provides employment training and educational services, and has served on the New Hampshire Mental Health Advisory Board.

Hough, who represented Lebanon for 22 years in the House and Senate as a Republican, is now a registered Democrat. A Vietnam veteran, he ran an insurance business in Lebanon. He is a resident of Grantham.

On July 2, 2003 the campaign announced the endorsement of former New Hampshire House Democratic leader Mary Chambers of Etna (represented Hanover).

The Caledonian Record (St. Johnsbury, VT) endorsed Dean in a June 27, 2003 editorial terming him "the most qualified candidate for his party's presidential nomination."

On June 10, 2003 the campaign announced the endorsement of New Hampshire National Education Association executive director Dennis Murphy.
