Sen. Lieberman visited NH on the afternoon and evening of August 31, 2003. He participated in a roundtable discussion on healthcare at the Backroom Puritan Restaurant in Manchester; watched the Red Sox-Yankees Game and picked the winner of the "See Joe's Car & Go See Nomar" contest at Grand Slam Pizza Grill and Bar in Manchester; and visited the Hopkinton Town Fair in Contoocock. Gov. Dean visited NH on August 30, 2003. He attended a house party co-hosted by State Reps. Jack Pratt and McKim Mitchell at Pratt's home in Walpole; attended a pig roast at the home of Paul Twomey in Chichester; attended a house party at the home of Doug Dean in Bedford; attended a house party at the home of Sherri and Jim Woolsey, with Linda Kipnes, in Hudson; and attended a house party at the home of Barbara and Harlow Carpenter in Kensington. Rep. Kucinich visited NH on August 28-29, 2003. Arriving in Portsmouth on the afternoon of August 28 from a lunch in Beverly, MA, he held a press conference at Market Square; that evening he held a town meeting at South Church; and he overnighted at the Sise Inn, a locally owned bed and breakfast. On August 29 he met with Portsmouth Herald editors; had lunch with Portsmouth area Democrats; and held a press conference (mass transit) at the Amtrak Station in Dover, before proceeding on to Portland, ME. Sen. Kerry visited NH on August 28, 2003. He unveiled his national economic plan in a speech to the Whittemore School of Business at the University of New Hampshire in Durham; participated in an NH AFL-CIO presidential forum at SEIU Local 1984 in Concord; and that evening attended a house party at the home of Margie Ives in Derry. Rep. Gephardt visited NH on August 24, 2003. He began with a couple of diner visits in Manchester--Belmont Hall and Restaurant on Grove Street and Julien's Corner on Bridge Street; met voters at Assumption Greek Church Festival in Manchester; met local voters at the “Race Against Leukemia” at New Hampshire International Speedway in Loudon; attended the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers' Lobster Bake at Portsmouth Naval Yard; and attended a barbecue for supporters and local voters at Bob and Pat Demers’ Hob Nob Farm in Dover. (Gephardt overnighted in NH and left early the next morning for Chicago). Sen. Kerry visited Nashua, NH on the afternoon of August 23, 2003. He made a speech on his proposals regarding veterans to a group of veterans at the Purple Heart Memorial in Deschenes Oval Park and held an open house at his Nashua office on East Pearl Street. Rep. Kucinich visited NH on August 22, 2003. He appeared on NHPR's "The Exchange" in Concord; had lunch with residents at the Pub Restaurant and did a downtown walk in Keene, stopping by the fire department; did an ed board meeting at the Keene Sentinel; appeared at Dublin Public Library in Dublin (after the public appearance, Kucinich met there with volunteers for a serious talk about the campaign's seeming lack of focus and interest in NH); had a private dinner at Aqua Bistro in Peterborough; and spoke at Harlow's Deli & Cafe in Peterborough. Gov. Dean visited NH on

Sen. Edwards brought his "Real Solutions Express"
to NH from August 20-25, 2003, making a six-day, 24-town
bus trip around the state with his wife Elizabeth and children Cate, Jack
and Emma Claire:
Sen. Lieberman visited NH on August 18-20, 2003 in a "Joe's Jobs Tour" working vacation--when he wasn't making Joe's Jobs Tour stops, he spent time with his family in Wolfeboro on Lake Winnipesaukee. At mid-day on August 18 he toured the factory and met with employees at Noyes Fiber Systems in Belmont. On August 19 he met with employees and area business leaders at Mount Washington Valley Economic Council-The Technology Village in Conway; and toured the factory and participated in a roundtable discussion with employees at Hexaport, Inc. in Berlin. On August 20 he walked down Main Street in Rochester with Mayor Walter Hoerman; discussed the economy with Mayor Hoerman and city employees at City Hall; and spoke to and meet with employees at Fisher Scientific in Hampton. Sen. Graham visited NH on August 16-19,
2003.
Rep. Kucinich opened his headquarters on Elm Street in Manchester, NH on August 11, 2003. Rep. Gephardt visited NH on August 8-11,
2003. On August 8 he participated in a roundtable on the
economy with local workers and business owners at Old Ferry Landing in
Portsmouth; participated in another roundtable at Joe King's Shoes in Concord;
met with SEIU NH leadership at the State Employees Association office in
Concord; and did meet and greet with local Democrats at Claremont Elks
Lodge in Claremont. Gephardt overnighted in NH. On August
9 he did a Teamsters endorsement tour, rallying in Detroit, MI and
Des Moines, IA, before returning to Manchester, NH for a Teamsters endorsement
rally and multi-union barbecue with Teamsters General President James P.
Hoffa and rank and file members at JFK Coliseum in Manchester in the early
evening. On August 10 and 11 in Portsmouth he filmed scenes
for television advertising as well as doing some in-state interviews and
informally meeting with voters.

Sen. Edwards visited NH on August 6, 2003. He spoke to the NEA-NH's annual summer conference at the Grand Summit Resort in Bartlett; continued his Town Hall Tour with a town hall-style ice cream social at the North Conway Community Center Gazebo; and held a Town Hall Meeting at Berlin City Hall. Gov. Dean campaigned in NH on the morning of August 2, 2003. He did a meet-the-candidate breakfast at the American Legion Hall in Salem and a house party at the home of Gloria and Pete Henry in Nashua. [Sen. Lieberman wrapped up a two-day trip to NH on August 1, 2003; see July.] Sen. Lieberman visited NH on July 31-August 1, 2003, continuing his "Joe's Jobs Tour." Starting out on the afternoon of July 31 he toured and made remarks at the GlycoFi biotech lab in Lebanon; participated in a roundtable discussion with warehouse distribution employees in Keene; visited the Cheshire County Fair in Swanzey; and attended a house party at the home of State Rep. Bette and Dr. Elliot Lasky in Nashua. On the morning of August 1 he visited Central Firehouse in Manchester; and participated in an ed board at the Concord Monitor. |
