2003: 3 visits, 3 days
-Rev. Sharpton participated in the debate at UNH in Durham, NH on the evening of December 9, 2003. -Rev. Sharpton had been scheduled
to visit NH on December 7, 2003 but weather intervened.
-Rev. Sharpton visited NH on February
27, 2003. He did a town hall meeting at New England College in
Henniker and attended the NHDP reception and spoke at the NHDP 100 Club
Dinner at the Center of NH in Manchester.
-Rev. Sharpton visited NH on
January
17, 2003. He flew into Concord early in the morning; met with
local clergy and community members at the Cat & Fiddle Restaurant;
met with Paul Stokes, president of the State Employees' Association of
New Hampshire SEIU Local 1984, at the union's headquarters. Proceeding
to Manchester, he met with NHDP chair Kathy Sullivan at Wadleigh, Starr
& Peters, P.L.L.C. (her law firm); met with Mark McKenzie, president
of the NH AFL-CIO, at the law firm. Sharpton spoke with student leaders
and media at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at Saint Anselm College
and then delivered a speech in the Assembly Hall. Returning to Concord,
he met with state Sen. Sylvia Larsen at the State House; and finally, he
will met with NEA New Hampshire executive director Terry Shumaker and president
Karen McDonough at the union's offices, before flying back to New York.
